Sketches and Ideas

Sketch of a Pendant

My beads are taking a long time to get in from America so I have been getting creative with a freshly sharpened pencil and just out of the packet paper - it’s too nice to use!
Here is one idea I had. Any suggestions? I’m really into wire work at the moment and I’d love to learn some new techniques. Thought I’d give this a try. It’s a slab of gemstone, probably slightly faceted. I was thinking onyx and gold filled wire with a small, round garnet bead in the top right hand corner, forming the point. I thought I would ‘set’ the garnet by wrapping the wire tightly around it. I’m not sure how it would sit though. Time for some experimentation….

How about using a drilled nugget of garnet so you can thread the wire before wrapping around the onyx for extra stability?

    Great site!
