About
I am on a journey that I would like to share with other jewellery makers out there, and the journey is to make great jewellery and sell it! I’d ideally like to make a living from it if I can.
I have plans to find a niche, approach galleries and independent jewellery shops, visit a variety of bead shops and sites (which I will review) and teach myself new techniques which I will share with you!
I also would like to add plenty of links to other similar sites and forums to give us all creative inspiration. I also have plans to add interesting video tutorials that I comes across!
I understand the world isn’t short of jewellery designers but I hope to find the key to standing out and making a statement, while selling jewellery at the same time.

February 8th, 2008 at 5:04 pmHi Kate,
I stumbled upon your site by accident just today. I’ve always loved nature’s amazing stones, and have just started making jewellery.
Your site is fabulous and has loads of great tips from someone who is further down the journey than I am. I just wanted to write and say thank you: first for putting the time in to ‘write up’ and share your knowledge, and for sharing your thoughts in a way that is easy to follow and attempt. It’s brilliant!
Very much appreciated. I’ll definitely check your blog regularly!
All the best,
Laura

February 18th, 2008 at 8:26 pmWhat a great blog! Full of interesting facts and tips, and the photos on the “how to” sections are really helpful. The semi-precious stones look wonderful too.
Where can I get really good quality findings for my jewellery? I am looking for sterling silver clasps and larger toggles etc for heavier pieces.
Best wishes,
Jill
Hi Kate,
Just found yr video on youtube. I was so impressed with the way you explained making basic earrings, it was a lot simpler as opposed to other videos. I’m new to jewellery but like yourself, want to create my own unique styles.
All the best for your jewellery adventure
March 13th, 2008 at 6:27 pmHi Kate,
I found your gemstone website today and also your blog. I have been looking for a gemstone supplier in the uk for some time so am glad to find your great site. I also wanted to say a big thank you for this blog and all the clear information you have included. I have wanted to make simple but beautiful jewellery using gemstones for a while but haven’t, until now, been able to find the clear, simple information I needed to get started. Thank you.
All good wishes,

Hi Kate
I have in the last couple of days decided I want to make jewellery and have started researching on the net when I found your site. It is very interesting and informative and has given me a further boost to do this. Well done in all that you have achieved so far and good luck with your future. I will be checking back regularly.
Good luck in all you do.

April 14th, 2008 at 9:38 amHi Kate
I have now found someone who can maybe put me out of my misery! I have been searching the www for the last two months trying to learn about findings and things. I am now retired and have had an interest in making anything from wood and I am now making some pendants, bangles etc. from some of the beautiful exotic hardwoods I have collected over the years - but in searching the www I find a distinct lack of any info on ‘making wooden jewellery’ - is it not at all wanted?
April 20th, 2008 at 9:04 pmI could, if you are at all interested, e-mail a photo of some I have prepared for finishing, once I have obtained the required findings, clasps etc. You may be able to suggest a way forward for me. It would be very much appreciated.
I look forward to your reply, kind regards.
James Lowthian

Hi Kate
Stumbled upon your blog this evening - it’s wonderful that you’re sharing your experience. I also make jewellery, mainly with semi precious stones and sterling silver when I can find the time. I’ve reached the stage where I would like to do silversmithing too! Saw your products website - have you considered selling findings as well (sterling silver, vermeil, wire etc?
August 10th, 2008 at 12:08 amHi Kate,
I am about to embark on jewellery making as a side-line to my holistics business. I thought it would be nice to display a few peices in my treatment room on the run up to Christmas!
I have made few necklaces for friends as birthday gifts and they have been well received!
I just wanted to say that your wesite is excellent. Well laid out with plenty of good information. Your enthusiasm for this topic is infectious!
My husband bought me all the equipment to start PMC work for christmas a few years back but as yet ive not used it as ive no idea where to start! Ive only got a small amount of PMC and want to make something special but as yet iv got too many ideas - all of which are too complicated!!
Anyway…enough rambling. Thanks for the inspiration. Your work is absolutely delightful.

August 26th, 2008 at 9:59 amLove your web-site, found it very helpful..I have been doing “art glass” for over 30 years now. Started fusing about 15 years ago (bought a kiln)and then bead making about 3 years ago..am teaching myself silver-smithing. love all kinds of glass..I am posting a few things on www.torchfairy.etsy.com ..not very good on computer so it takes a lot of time when I could be working on my stuff..I have my art in an Artisan shop in a local winery.. Like the look of your web-site and your simple instructions..

September 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pmI am 12 years old and I have started jewellery making with beads, it is great. I was wondering if you knew what you can make out of chains, as I want to strech my jewellery making even further.
Thanks.

I am gay and I was wondering if you have any tips on being straight again.
